Now that the summer is almost over it is time for families to start thinking about back to school ideas for their fall home. While many parents think back to school organization only involves the kids’ rooms and play areas, the reality is “back to school” time affects your entire home.

I bet you are a big Pinterest fan just as I am. Well, sometimes I get lost in the visual spheres of Pinterest and browse through dozens (hundreds?) of inspiring pictures. And it always happens that my eye gets caught by certain rooms.

I strongly believe in the unrivaled power of colors in interior design.

Sometimes I have a hard time nailing down things that catch my eye in a particular room. Just like today. I mean seriously, is there anything that doesn't catch your eye in this happy bedroom?

If you want to catch my attention, color in interior design and home decoration is a good lure. Now I don't have to outline the fact that the color blocking in this room has definitely caught my eye.

I like to ponder over beautiful and inspiring rooms that I've found on the web. I love to break it down to three reasons why that certain room caught my eye. Today I am sharing a great Scandinavian living room that I've spotted in the Danish magazine Bo Bedre.

I was going through the various issues of my favorite Australian e-mag Est Magazine and got hooked by this dining nook.

I truly believe in the notion that color equals happiness. Now some of you who are devotees of the monochromatic approach in interior design might disagree with me here, but hey, this is a place to go crazy and berserk when it comes to homes.

I have recently been daydreaming of bohemian style interiors, lush and rich with textures, patterns and colors. This thought led to the next one, being a soft, velvety emerald sofa as a key feature in a bohemian chic interior design.

I would like to draw your attention to the highlights that caught my eye in the living room of British designer Harriet Anstruther.

Well, today I have something for those of you who love textures, patterns and colors - a remarkable bedroom styling with an ethnic vibe.

The house is a beautiful old historical house, steps from the sand, and down the street from Waikiki beach…but millions of miles in terms of design!

Rugs. Love 'em. They add coziness to a room, texture, and are a great way to add texture and pattern (I am really not a fan of a plain, neutral colored rug - it becomes a focal point of boring).

No joke, color theory really works. When you're getting ready to paint any room we've got some great simple advice - follow the 60-30-10 color rule!

There are so many factors that go into designing a successful space - scale, finish, texture, color, pattern - all of which depend heavily on the design style that you're working with (modern, traditional, vintage...). I think one of the most challenging design styles to pull off is eclectic.
